Can I rent a Jet Ski even if I have never driven one before?

Yes, we will fully instruct you on how to operate a Jet Ski safely.  We show a video and go over the jetskis. We now operate a fleet of Seadoo GTX's which are top of the line and astonishingly easy to ride! You will ride in our designated riding area with our trained supervisors/guides at all times, or in a very organized manner on a guided tour following a guide's jet ski. Any questions or concerns just ask and they are there to help! Many of our workers are total professionals with years of experience workin on the water who LOVE sharing the joy of jet skiing while prioritizing safety and comfort. We stand out above the rest thanks for this personalized assistance we offer participants.

Which location is near Manhattan for Jet Skiing?  

FOR OUR JERSEY CITY LOCATION; next to Manhattan and Statue of Liberty, if you have booked a jet ski rental or tour online for this location you must arrive at least 10 minutes early at 37 Marin Blvd, Jersey City, New Jersey 07302 (Address for our NYC Jet Ski Tours and Rentals). Watch the jet skis go by from Surf City Waterfront bar and grill next to us! Just about 5 minutes off of the Holland Tunnel, we have direct ferry access and trains from Manhattan just a few blocks from our office. Our location is very distinct and has a mini-Statue of Liberty outside it! Please pay to park with the Liberty Harbor Marina and RV park main office right next to our office.

Which location is close to the Jersey Shore to Jet Ski?

FOR OUR JERSEY SHORE LOCATION, If you have booked a session in Keyport, you must arrive at least 5-10 minutes early at 357 West Front Street, Keyport NJ. (Location for Boat Rentals) parking is free from this location. Just about 5 minutes off of the Garden State Parkway exit 117. Boaters please remember to arrive 30 minute early. The office is just behind the marina office, if walking around it to the left. You'll see the picnic tables and outdoor TV! Park anywhere in this lot!

Where can I find the link for the digital waiver for jet skiing?

Do I need a reservation? 

Yes, for both Jet Ski and Boats. And they're quick and easy to make on this site after clicking book now on the main page. If one location is sold out, please check the other.  Please keep in mind we do sell out on nice days, weekends and holidays, so we encourage you to several days in advance, especially for large groups. What is the difference between Jersey Jet Ski's Jersey City location and Jersey Jet Ski's Keyport Location? 

Our Jersey City location is a ready for fun rental zone with a view of New York City that you'll never forget, up close and personal with NYC's most beautiful landmarks in our safe and comfortable rental zone. And with a proximity to a beautiful skyline that's unlike anywhere else on Earth! Our Jersey Jet Ski Jersey City location just focuses on top of the line beautiful scenery with our 60 minute free ride rentals. Jersey Jet Ski's Keyport location offers NJ's Largest Jet Ski Rental Zone AND world class jet ski cruising tours that'll give you an awesome connection to these terrific jet skis and scenes. Keyport is also home to the CLOSEST BOAT RENTAL TO NYC! What if I want to go out for more than 60 minutes on a rental? 

If our 60 minute jet ski option isn't enough for you, then just book back to back sessions (for instance, the 1pm and then also the 2:30pm or any back to back sessions from the same location) this way you can come back in, rest and relax for a moment, then get back out into the action! If not, choose a tour option so we can guide you around the the amazing local waterways for a jet ski cruise you wont forget. We also offer a 90 Minute "combo" tour & rental option from Jersey City!

Can I take a passenger on a jet ski with me?

Yup! For just $40 in Keyport or $60 in Jersey City, you can have a passenger and even switch off with them as long as they're above the age of 16. The passenger age limit is 10 years old. You may add a passenger at the time of arrival. ID's are required for everyone.

How many people can go on a boat?

The maximum capacity is 11 people (with or without a hired driver). 

What are the minimum ages to rent jet skis and boats? 

The minimum age for jet skis is 10 years old to be a passenger on a jet ski, and 16 to be a driver (with a permit and minor-waiver signed by parent or guardian) otherwise 18 to drive. with valid photo ID. 

The minimum age to rent a boat is 21, and the minimum age to be a passenger on the boat is 3 years old. If the child is very small, please bring a life jacket that fits correctly, all children 10 and under must wear a lifejacket at all times on the water.

Are photos and videos available of me jet skiing? 

Yes, we'll take dozens or photos and up to 5 minutes of video per jet ski ($25 for photos, $25 for video, or $40 for both!) We airdrop or whatsapp the photos right after the session ends. We now offer go pro with photo/video packs $69 and you get a 35gb SD card to take home with the content at special request, EVEN DRONE FOOTAGE of you jet skiing!

Can I take my phone on the jet ski?

We have a strict no phone policy on the water. If you are interested in capturing the experience with photos, we offer amazing packages as discussed above. Phones are often dropped into the water or create dangerous distracted operating and has lead to costly damage or bodily harm. Just live in the moment and let us save the moment with a photos and videos package!

Are there wetsuits to keep warm we can use?

Yes, we have wetsuits that can be rented for $20 each, we clean our wetsuits between uses and make sure they're fresh! Not just left on a hangar like most places that DO NOT have amazing offices with washers and dryers like ours. 

Should I know how to swim? 

Nope, knowing how to swim isn't necessary. You will be on the water with a life jacket and a professional who can make sure you're comfortable and safe. 

How old do I need to be to rent a Jet Ski/Waverunner? What are the age requirements?

New Jersey State Law states that a PWC rental business (Jersey Jet Ski) must not rent to anyone under the age of 16 years. This is the person who is going to be the responsible party for signing the rental agreement and the liability waiver. The “renter” must show a valid driver’s license and provide a major credit card. However if the “renter“ choses they can allow anyone 16 years old or older to operate as long as they understand that the “renter” is the person responsible for any damage! 

How many people can ride on a Jet Ski?

Each Waverunner/Jet Ski is sized for 2 people, or 350 pounds maximum before balancing the jet ski at low speed becomes a little more challenging. 

What happens if I arrive late to my appointment or have to reschedule?

Due to tight scheduling arriving late may result in a costly rescheduling fee (available on our Requirements Page). Please call us if you are running later than your reservation time, which you MUST arrive no later than the start time of your session, or earlier if you need extra prep time preparation.

 Should I arrive early to my jet ski reservation?

YES!!!!! YOU MUST ARRIVE AT LEAST 5 to 10 MINUTES EARLIER THAN YOUR RESERVATION TIME FOR JET SKIING, and 30 MINUTES EARLY FOR BOATING. Parking may take a couple of minutes, and we have a ZERO TOLERANCE FOR LATE ARRIVALS since there MAY be others in your session's group. The orientation begins shortly after arrival and  You will have to be processed and the guide will be conducting a safety orientation prior and your group will be going out on the water on your scheduled time, is is very important you arrive early (RATHER THAN LATER) so you can leave at your schedule time.

FOR BOATERS: COME 30 MINUTES EARLY TO NOT DISRUPT YOUR SESSION TIME. 

Can we take the Jet Ski/Waverunners/Seadoos anywhere we want?

Nope! But if you want to go beyond our rental zones, we have great tours! You cannot not go off on your own, this is strictly forbidden. New Jersey law requires that any Jet Ski rentals must ride with our highly trained escorts/guides in a designated area , which is our amazing buouyed in areas.(they are there watching over for your safety). This means that each trip has a personal guide along with them for the duration of your adventure, who’ll also be happy to help you get familiar with jet skiing. Please note we do not allow riders to return to the dock during their 30 or 60 minute rental to switch operators. You may switch operators (while in the riding area) at the supervisor's discretion.

Can we take the boat wherever we want?

Unfortunately without having your own boating license and experience boating you are limited to driving the boat in the Raritan Bay area, which is a beautiful and large scenic area with distant views of NYC, the banks of Staten Island and New Jersey, as well as local beaches (which you cannot pull up on) and you cannot ride near the jet ski rental zone for the hazards involved with being too close to other boaters/jet skiiers with little experience being too close to other vessels. However, with a hired driver, you can go further to a limited number of locations. There is a gas fee if you go further.

Do I need a driver for the boat? What if I never operated a boat?

 With our program, You Do Not Need A Driver or boating license to drive since we will give you details on how to operate, even if you have not driven a boat before you can legally operate under us. AS LONG AS YOU ARE OVER 21. HOWEVER, if you are not competent with how to operate a boat, it is suggested that you jet ski, or go out with a driver on your first awesome trip to learn the what new boaters should learn, almost like an actual boating course on the water, to have a safe and fun time on the water. There are unmarked hazard which exist and you must be careful for, we do have a lot of people who go out with a driver for their first time, learn the ropes, then come back or use boats in other places around the world more comfortably!

What is the Supervisor or Guide for while Jet Skiing?

The guide (if a tour) or supervisor (if a rental) will begin with a safety orientation prior your allotted time session. Our guide/supervisors are there for your jet ski safety, training, comfort and to escort you to and from the designated riding area to on a tour. 

Jet Ski Guides and Supervisors are PROFESSIONALS, and will be on hand to provide any assistance that you may need, and take those EPIC pictures and videos. When your time draws to an end, they will lead you back to the dock and assist you with safely docking your ski. And if you LOVE the experience, it's common to tip our guides! It doesn't have to be 20% like at a restaurant, a $20 bill or card-tip is something they really appreciate (even tho they work harder than any waiters I've ever been served by!). 

You'll get first class service regardless of your generosity.

Should I tip the guides/instructors?

It is customary to tip the guides/instructors. Our employees are mostly first responders who go far beyond the commonly tipped bartenders and waiters to make sure your experience is amazing. It is very common for them to be given gratuity in a similar way if you're generous. THEY REALLY BECOME FRIENDS TO MANY OF OUR GREAT RETURNING CUSTOMERS, and we have countless amazing customers each year!

Do you provide life jackets?

Yes, we provide both smaller and adult size life jackets for all jet ski rentals and tours! 

But please bring extra small children sized life jackets if you plan on taking kids under 10 on a boat, they must wear the jacket the whole time on the water. There will be 12 universal jackets in the boat, let us know if you have specialized life jacket size requests.

Do I need a Boat License to Rent a Jet Ski in New Jersey?

No, that is why we must have a safe riding area designated for just our Jet Skis, Seadoos and Waverunners, but be sure to have some kind of proper valid photo ID, could be your standard drivers license, school ID, gym ID or Passport. A picture of the photo  ID works as well. You will operate under our company's license and permit, so once you've signed up your waiver, get an orientation, and go out with our guide, you get the best of 

Do the jet skis return to where we left from?

Yes, the jet skis alway return to their starting point.

How fast can I ride my Jet Ski/ Waverunner?

That’s completely up to you! Once you are in the riding area you can go full throttle 55+ MPH, but must always operate at safe speed depending on many conditions. One person riding solo vs. 2 people riding on a Waverunner will determine the maximum speed also. You don't have to go fast of course, but if you want to, our exclusive riding area allows enough freedom to keep your machine full-throttle for the entire ride!

Why do I need to leave a deposit to jet ski?

This is part of the Damage Waiver Agreement that you will need to fill out and sign when you rent from us. Each jet ski requires a $250.00 cash or credit or debit card deposit in case of damages that you and or someone else causes to our equipment while in your care. We can hold the card on file for this and won't charge it unless there is damage, but we do scan for funs. Damages can exceed this amount so listening carefully to the instructor prior to departure will make for a clear understanding of the hazards, this is detailed further on our  requirements/policy page. This is also listed in the waiver which is sent to you in the booking's confirmation email. 

However for boats, a $500 card scan is made as a security deposit. Damages can exceed the cost of the security deposit and fees may apply, such as a clean up fee if it is left dirty and a gas fee or driver free.

What happens if I damage one of the Jet Skis?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions. That's what the deposit is for, our guides/supervisors will give greater details prior to departure on how to avoid causing damages. Your deposit will be held until the actual cost of the repairs has been determined. A mechanic can be contacted to estimate the damages if a manager cannot assess it. Typically damage the size of a credit card will cost $250 to repair (cracked fiberglass) at a minimum, and expenses can also be caused from sucking debris into the impeller (rare occurrence) or internal damage caused from reckless behavior. Instructions on how to avoid damage will be explained thoroughly prior to departure. The person making the reservation IS ultimately responsible for damages, so if one of your friend's has a car with a lot of dents on it- make sure they put their card up so they know it's a real responsibility!

When is Jersey Jet Ski open for business?

We will be open depending on the weather from March 15th until as late as December 15th! It depends on how cold the nights are before we can un-winterize our jetskis and start for the season! Weather depending, but mostly open 7 days a week! We are now offering an amazing virtual reality experience for any day or rainy day fun or fun before/after jet skiing!

How long is each trip and what times are available to rent?

Jersey Jet Ski offers daily rentals starting at 8am (sometimes earlier depending on the time of sunrise) from two locations. Trips depart as schedule (click book now on homepage to see the schedule) and include the full 30 minutes or hour sessions, longer tours and other great options. Our last runs typically go out an hour and a half before the sunset. Sunset Specials are Available. nightly by selecting the final event of the evening.

How do I make a reservation?

The best way is to BOOK ONLINE and see all availability. This is the best way to guarantee a reservation. Please feel free to call or text is us at 732-201-8266 with any further questions that have not been addressed here.

What if I want to make a reservation for a group to go jet ski?

If assembling a large party or multiple jet skis, it's easy to do right over our website after clicking book now then selecting a location, day and event. When viewing an event, you can see how many jet skis are still available then either book them yourself for the group and forward them the confirmation email, so they can see these details and fill out the waivers. A screen shot of the confirmation that they filled out their waiver will help for a more streamlined check-in. You can also coordinate booking your group reserving jet skis individually as well, which works well if planning far enough ahead and sharing the booking link. Be mindful of timing since sell outs do happen quickly if the weather is nice, or often times a few days a head of schedule for weekends or holidays. 

What should I wear jet skiing? 

Wear beach or gym attire. Shoes aren't necessary while riding either and can be left on the dock. If the weather is less than ideal, we have comfy wetsuits for riding and staying warm. Wearing longer sleeve dry-fit gym attire or a WATERPROOF WINDBREAKER can make for more extra comfortable jet skiing.

Are there rules on the water and do I have to behave a certain way on the Jet Ski?

The guides will go over everything during their thorough safety orientation such as how you are guided to and from the rental zone and how to avoid reckless behavior that may result in your session being brought to an early, non-refundable end. We also implement a strict "Strike" policy, meaning by the second reprimand, you will be guided back to the marina and your session will be forfeited. It is important to always keep a safe distance from one another, look over your shoulders before turning and avoid unpredictable maneuvering, along with other fine details we go over before departing! DON'T BE NERVOUS! We have taken TENS OF THOUSANDS of people out with each trip ending with smiles and a new sense of confidence from their terrific experience with our expert guides.

Will there be somewhere I can secure my valuables?

Yes, we have lockers where you can secure your valuables. But if possible, keep as much as possible in your vehicle besides what each guest needs to take with you to check-in.  

What should I bring with me or my group?

This is very important and detailed further on the requirements page of this site and in the confirmation email. But as a quick break down:

                                     1) Photo ID's for everyone participating, ID and CARD OF THE PERSON WHO BOOKED IT MUST BE PRESENT, OR YOU WILL HAVE TO GET CASH FROM OUR ATM AND BE REFUNDED! Security Deposits with a in-person Credit Card can be left. 

                           2) $250 Security Deposits for each jet ski.

                                    3) Filled out "waiver confirmation emails" for each participant (link can be shared from confirmation email and is automatically uploaded). 

                                 4) 5-10 Minute Prior Arrival (to assure an on time departure and cover any excess time needed to prepare your group). BETTER TO BE EARLY THAN LATE, traffic is unpredictable. Prepare accordingly, come earlier if extra time is needed to get changed or if you have a large group. We cannot wait for late guests, you'll have to pay to rebook unless you gave the booking insurance saved! Then you're fully refunded. 

Is there parking at the marinas?

Yes, we have parking at Browns Point Marina in Keyport for free (to the left of the main office building in the front of the marina, next to our office behind it to the left.) and in our Jersey City location there is $10 parking to park in Liberty Harbor Marina (when telling security you're there to jet ski) and afterward. 

What about transportation to these locations? 

Both of Jersey Jet Ski's locations are highly accessible by car. Our Keyport location (357 West Front Street, Keyport NJ)  is just a 3 minute drive from exit 117 on the Garden State Parkway, and our Jersey City location is just 10 minutes from the Holland Tunnel. For people interested in taking a fast ferry from Manhattan or a path train, look no further than Jersey Jet Ski's Jersey City location (37 Marin Blvd, Jersey City NJ) since the train and ferry are a very short walk away. Basically in the same parking lot as our Jersey City check-in location.
